Productive Growth Counseling Center

The GRA Productive Growth Counseling Center offers a wide range of programs and services that are able to meet the personal and social needs of our students. Located in Shepard Hall on Grand River Academy’s campus, the Counseling Center helps teenage boys with a variety of emotional topics that include:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • ADD/ADHD
  • ODD
  • Behavioral Issues
  • Social Skills
  • High Functioning Autism
  • Mood Disorders
  • Electronic Addiction

Another unique component to the Productive Growth Counseling Center is a fully tooled woodworking shop. This one-of-a-kind program incorporates the art of hand tool woodworking with traditional counseling methods to help adolescents heal and progress emotionally, socially, and spiritually. The PGC assists with:

  • Teaching adolescence the value of hands-on, project-based problem solving skills
  • Directly integrating counseling skills into lifelong recreational and social activities
  • Guiding adolescent boys to focus their energies in a productive and positive manner
  • Empowering adolescent boys to identify personal strengths and weaknesses; then implement the proper gameplan to obtain desired outcomes
  • Inspiring an internal determination to self advocate for desired outcomes

Integrated Counseling Program

Grand River Academy's comprehensive counseling program integrates seamlessly into our academic curriculum, addressing the emotional, social, and academic needs of students. Our Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Thomas Polak, lives on campus. This unique feature ensures that students have immediate access to guidance and support whenever they may need it.
